Also this year I visited Ce-bit Hannover fair. Generally, there were not great news (or I did not know where to look at), which puts into question motivation for next years visit.
I ove godine posjetio sam Ce-bit sajam u Hannoveru. Općenito, nije bilo velikih novosti (ili ja nisam znao gdje ih tražiti), što dovodi u pitanje motivaciju za posjet slijedeće godine.
Ce-Bit uses all of the 25 halls (Halle) in Hannover fair ground. They are all about the same size (Halle 1 being about 3 times bigger as any other). Below: Halle 2.

• Russian company devexperts is writing software for some of the most popular web portals for FXs and options traders (and brokers). There I found information that thinkorswim Inc is the best option trader web site for 2007 according to Barron’s magazine. Magazine “Deloitte – Technology Fast 500” declared them the fastest growing technology company (I don’t know the magazine and I doubt the title). Related to FXs is GFT Global Markets UK and GFT FX.
  
• Bit informatik seems to be very big German financial software company. But their bit-MaGIC software for risk management left me unimpressed (it is only template for Domino database).
• Some not particularly interesting financial software companies: Fuzzy Logik and Senator software.

• Thomas-Krenn AG was offering HA Linux clusters (server units and server blade solutions). Their software solution might be worth checking, especially Virtuozzo software.
  
• Transtec seemed to have a powerful cluster, but it was Microsoft based and I walked away. Interestingly it seems that 10 Gbit Myrinet and 10 Gbit Ethernet networks are available.

• Check company 2N Telekomunikace with a standard offering for small companies and call centres (GSM, ISDN, VoIP gateway).

• On boring but expensive Croatian stand, the only interesting thing was EKG.NET where patients with cardiac disorder would wear GPS tracking device with EKG monitoring device. In case of trouble, Emergency team could be dispatched immediately to known location with known history of disease.
• One of many GPS tracking solutions was provided by daisy technologies. (I’ve also seen Bulgarian company being seriously asked about their products)

• AXIA – Fifth media has united card reader and PDA phone. It’s an idea that David had, although I think he was concerned about magnetic stripe… and I was wondering how it would work with the chip on SmarCard. The best solution seems to be RFID chip on SmartCard and RFID chip on mobile (the problem is… how safe it is. Maybe optical coupling is better?). Very kind gentleman of Malaysian company was complaining that they cannot sell the phone (and they don’t have money to follow development of the big leader as Nokia), so they were trying to sell phone card reader they developed.
• Simple although effective mobile commerce solution has been offered by Beijing Sunion Technology Co., Ltd. Encoded jpg picture is sent to the mobile, and than mobile’s display is used to pass optical reader gateway.
• Mobile voice encryption offered by Babylon nG and also by Bsure tech (English, Stansted based company).

• Russian company Widisoft kindly provided CD which is offering realtime Audio to MIDI conversion. It seems it can be used as VST plug-in and will be tested with CuBase.
• Technical University Ilmenau had some interesting networking software (management) with Cell_FACH< –>Cell_DCH simulations (although now outdated).
• Voice Pro from linguatec can directly translate spoken words.
• Diamond aircraft, well known Austro-Canadian aviation company brought DA-20 airplane, that we enjoyed observing. They were trying to simulator for their airplanes.
• Not spectacular by look. The volume of sound was quite big, and clarity quite good.

This Saturday I experienced the most joyful ride in a glider so far, including the loop which supposedely involved about 3-4g of acceleration. Logbook:

1. Instructor Johm Voight. Doing circles. Applying rudder pedals during circles.
   Kruženje. Upotreba pedala kormila za vrijeme kruženja.
2. Instructor Andy. Demonstration and then performing the stall

3. Instructor Haken. Controlling rudder pedals during airtow after 1000 feet. Unsuccessfully banking the aircraft from side to side using flystick and rudder. Too much wobbling.

4. Instructor Duncan. I was given full control during airtow at 1500 feet, but immediately applied too much flystick to the left and almost broke the rope. Duncan took control and gave me control back only after completion of airtow at 2500 feet. I trimmed the K21 HLP at various speeds (45, 55 and 60 knots). I was demonstrated and later performed loop. I was demnostrated Chandelle. I applied airbrakes while controlling the glider all the way down to few feet of altitued.
   Bila mi je dana puna kontrola prilikom vuÅ¡e nakon 1500 stopa, ali odmah sam dao previÅ¡e palice u lijevo i skoro prekinuo konop. Duncan je preuzeo kontrolu i vratio mi je tek nakon prestanka vuÄ?e na oko 2500 stopa. Trimovao sam K21 HLP na nekoliko razliÄ?itih brzina (45, 55 i 60 cvorova). Demonstracija i izvodjenja petlje. Today I visited again Southdown airfield, the biggest gliding club in UK (about 40 gliders). The weather was worse than predicted by Meteoblue, with very strong wing and fast moving clouds. There were 2 gliders being intermittently launched by catapult, enabling them about 3-4 minutes of flight before landings. Landings were quite spectacular, with very steep turning before landing itself. All landings seemed perfect to me, despite the wind. Nevertheless, I decided to fly when wind would be less strong (I am quite impressed that a South African guy I met last time, was landing gliders well after only 20 flights.)
Danas sam ponovo posjetio Southdown airfield, najveći klub zraÄ?nog jedrenja u Engleskoj (oko 40 zraÄ?nih jedrilica). Vrijeme je bilo loÅ¡ije nego prognozirano od strane Meteoblue , s vrlo jakim vjetrom i brzim oblacima. Dvije jedrilice su naizmjeniÄ?no bivale lansirane katapultom, Å¡to bi im omogućilo oko 3-4 minute leta prije sletanja. Slijetanja su bila priliÄ?no dojmljiva, s vrlo strmim okretom prije samog slijetanja. Sva slijetanja su mi se Ä?inila odliÄ?nim, usprkos vjetru. Medjutim, odluÄ?io sam letiti kada vjetar bude slabiji (PriliÄ?no me impresionira deÄ?ko iz JužnoafriÄ?ke republike kojeg sam sreo zadnji put, koji je dobro slijetao nakon samo 20 letova.)

On 8th April, Saturday, Bloco do Sul played the usual reportoire of Samba in Epsom. We played in front of the Ebisham centre (library, and Saxon name for Epsom). It was first sunny and hot day in Spring, and a true herald of incoming Summer. Very nice weather brought out a fairly nice crowd, so it was enjoyable to play. Although, sun made a bit hard after a winter dream. Our playing started by our Mestre Mick calling the first song:
